I'm an artist and the founder and director of WCA. I founded WCA in 2014 out of passion and have spent the last eight years building a community of socially engaged artists who use their talent to raise awareness for humanitarian causes. I'm passionate about people, art and music and follow social issues closely. During my time at WCA, I've had the opportunity to meet so many incredibly passionate and talented people - from young people to seasoned leaders in the artistic and humanitarian worlds

I am a third year Social Policy and Politics student at the University of Bristol, originally from Cambridge. I joined WCA in October 2020 as a researcher because it combined my interest in global issues with my passion for music. I quickly became involved in project management and am now the WCA podcast host. I have really enjoyed seeing how the organisation uses creative expression to raise awareness for humanitarian issues and showcases a diversity of musical talent.

Hi, WCA family! I am a freelance copy editor, copywriter, and children’s author. I live in Colorado where I enjoy writing with the sounds of the wind in the pines and the melody of songbirds by the river. I have a passion for lifting up those who are less fortunate, for protecting the environment and animals, and for helping people reconnect with nature. When I found out about WCA I was amazed to find an organization that combined so many things that I love.

Hello! I'm Emily. I am from San Francisco. I love singing and dancing more than just about anything. I've done a fair bit of traveling and I truly enjoy meeting people from anywhere and everywhere. I have worked in the field of Communications/Marketing/Fundraising for non-profit organizations and B-corporations for over five years, and am glad to contribute my knowledge to World Citizen Artists. This organization brings together my passions for creativty and cross-cultural understanding!

Hi, I’m Rose. I’m heading into my third year at the University of Bristol, studying a BA in English Literature, and have always been impassioned by writing. I have grown up with a passion for the Arts, applying this to my love for playing the piano, watching lots of films, and of course reading! Hello, my name is Chaeyeon. I am a psychology student at the University of Bristol who is volunteering as a researcher at WCA. My work entails discovering and making connections between artists and organizations concerned with global issues. Through this work, I am learning the power of art as a conduit for global citizenship as well as how knowledge and human values can feed creativity and how creativity, in turn, can serve and feed society.

Hello! I am a recent politics and international relations graduate and am an incoming MSc student at the LSE. I really enjoy traveling around the world and playing the piano and the guitar. joining WCA has really cemented the fact that we collectively face these issues and have the power to enact positive change through creativity and dialogue. Hi. I am Sophia, a third year neuroscience student at Bristol University. I grew up in a multicultural environment and have strengthened my desire to promote intercultural dialog by getting involved in educational initiatives that are close to my heart. Volunteering for WCA has been a great experience that has brought together artists and a great community around the globe.

I’m a musician and soon-to-be medical student from Linstead, Jamaica. I’m passionate about learning languages, blogging, and female upliftment and empowerment. I am a supporter of many humanitarian causes, but the closest to my heart are those for the education of young girls and the rights of women. I joined WCA as a proofreader because, as an artist at heart, I wanted to be a part of an organisation that uses art to promote the awareness of humanitarian issues.

I'm a final year Czech and Russian student at the University of Bristol. I joined WCA as a writer because I wanted to be involved in an organisation with a positive social impact. As a languages student, fostering global solidarity and collaboration is important to me, but I believe art can sometimes transcend languages as a communication tool. Hello! My name is Surabhi and I’m a first-year law student at the University of Bristol. I’m the legal administrative assistant for WCA. I help the organization with legal research and review legal documents. Having started in October, it’s been great working alongside Valerie so far!

I enjoy listening to music and doing sports. I have lived in several different countries and got to know many different cultures, I really enjoy meeting new people and getting to know new ways of life. By joining WCA, I hoped to apply my various areas of knowledge and use my time to help the charity progress. WCA was, for me, a great opportunity to learn about various cultures, get to know more artists and expand my field of knowledge.

I’m a second year studying English Literature at Bristol University. I joined the WCA in February because I was so impressed by their purpose. I loved the idea of raising awareness for humanitarian causes. The humanitarian issues closest to my heart are climate change and violence against women. whilst promoting artists and musicians and giving them a platform to do the same.

Hi there, I’m a freelance editor and writer living in Alabama, United States. I love anything to do with words and writing. When it comes to humanitarian issues, issues such as the current worldwide refugee crisis and environmental protection weigh on my mind the heaviest. I joined WCA because of the organization’s vision of change through positivity and the mission to spread joy and peace resonated with me. I knew immediately that I wanted to be a part of this awesome team.

I am a first-year student at the University of Bristol studying Liberal Arts, majoring in Anthropology. I am the WCA Partnership Coordinator. I am committed to being part of a community of change where we can promote social and humanitarian issues through the intermediate of art. The issue that I hold closest to my heart is the refugee crisis. I believe that art is a powerful tool which can surpass differences between individuals. We can all unite to make a difference.

I am a third year Liberal Arts student, studying at the University of Bristol. I joined the WCA at the beginning of October because I loved the idea of using art to engage people with humanitarian issues. Art is an incredibly useful tool, it can enlighten us to an artist’s personal feelings and emotions and artists can use it as a platform to express and address issues that face their wider community, and even their global community.

WCA was a perfect starting point for me to learn the development process of different projects and how to engage the audience with different forms of arts. I believe life imitates art to a certain degree, and it can profoundly evoke a sense of empathy and compassion beyond language and ethnics, therefore, bringing positive changes to the world step by step.

I believe that art is a very powerful tool that can be used to influence, connect and empower people to express themselves. Whether you are an artist, student or simply someone who is interested in using art as a tool to raise awareness for global issues I get involved with WCA! It will only further connect you with hundreds of other like-minded individuals and inspire you be the change you want to see in this world.

Studying languages has sparked a curiosity in how other people live and how despite living on the same planet, we all have such different experiences. I think it is important to encourage alternative ways of addressing global issues, as in today’s age so much seems to resort to violence or aggression to solve problems, which uses up so much energy and passion that, channelled in a more peaceful way, has the ability to evoke genuine, positive change.

I am a fourth year Liberal Arts student and I joined the WCA team in October 2019 as a digital content creator. Like many, I am increasingly concerned about the impact of climate change and pollution on the planet. Sometimes the realities of the situation can feel too frightening and overwhelming to fully comprehend. In order to cope I often turn to art as a form of escapism. However, World Citizen Artist showed me that art can also be part of the solution.

I’m an artist and writer. I started volunteering for WCA in 2015. It's a real pleasure to be a part of World Citizens Artists. I am thankful to Valerie and WCA for creating such an amazing platform that not only brings diverse creative voices together but also connects these voices to a larger cause, that of making our society and world a much better place by using art as a medium. WCA has always been and will continue to be close to my heart. I am now occasionally helping as an advisor.

Hello, I volunteered as a proof-reader/translator for WCA in 2017 during my Erasmus year abroad in Paris. I’m originally from England, and I studied at the University of Edinburgh. Having never encountered a charity such as WCA, I was intrigued immediately and wanted to get involved! WCA, at the time, was preparing for a competition. I particularly enjoyed reading artists’ profiles, learning about their art and the meaning behind it.

I am a foundation of Social Science and Law student. Since I have travelled a lot, being confronted by humanitarian issues was always part of my life and encouraged me to think of possible solutions. As I don’t see myself yet in the position to efficiently contribute to political and economical solutions – based on research I wanted to have a different impact. WCA offered me the opportunity to do that.
